Microplastic-Free Cellulose Sponges 2 Pk
Did you know that the average dish sponge is made with nylon and micro-plastics that seep into the water system? It gets worse. This micro-plastic never degrades and only ends up getting smaller, ending up in the eco-system and polluting the environment!
Natural sponges are nothing new. Heck, today's sponges are artificial copies of natural sponges found in the ocean. It is cheaper and easier to make them from un-natural materials and harvesting ocean sponges is not ethical for many of us or financially practical, to say the least.
No more! This amazing sponge is made from wood pulp or plant cellulose. It is 100% biodegradable and lasts as long as a store-bought sponge.
These reusable kitchen sponges can absorb 10x their own weight and they are the perfect environmentally friendly sponge for the eco-conscious consumer.
Use just like any other sponge! To disinfect, put in the dishwasher with the dishes or put the damp sponge in the microwave for 30 seconds.
When you are done using it, compost it or send it to the landfill to decompose naturally.
Approximately 4.25" by 3.25" and .75" thick.
ATTENTION: Due to popular demand, these sponges are now thinner than the last version to avoid waste.
About the Yellow Dye:
From the manufacture:
Why is our sponge dyed yellow?
We decided to use coloring in our sponges because if we were to produce natural sponges, they would discolor and become brown (and not very nice to look at) very quickly. We worry that if sponges discolored easily, then people would be inclined to throw them out when they still have lots of life left in them!
What is it dyed with?
The dye is called YELLOW 3R and it is an FDA organic pigment yellow. It is safe to use, non-synthetic, vegan, and plastic-free. It may run yellow the first couple of times you use the sponge, but don't worry this will stop eventually.
